Joanna (Jo) Riley, CEO of Censia

A technology entrepreneur based in San Francisco, California, Joanna (Jo) Riley serves as the CEO and co-founder of AI-powered talent intelligence firm Censia. Joanna Riley previously served as the CEO and managing director of SaaS solutions provider 1-Page, a talent acquisition software company which she led to a successful IPO onto the S&P/ASX 300.

Before her career as a tech leader, Ms. Riley attended the University of Virginia, where she earned a BA in foreign affairs. Upon graduation, she was recruited to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a field representative and junior instructor in the International Training and Assistance Unit (ITAU). In this role, she worked primarily with law enforcement in Africa and the Middle East handling cases related to drug investigation and terrorist crime scene management.

In 2004 Ms. Riley became the vice president of Venture Marketing Solutions, where she earned recognition as the No. 1 sales representative among 5,000 national employees and was the firm’s top gross performer in the United States. She later served as the CEO of direct marketing company Performance Advertising Associates before taking a position as the managing partner of Hubert Burda Media, leading the company’s expansion into mainland China and creating and executing multi-platform strategic operations in the country, including the launch of the luxury magazine Prestige.

In addition to her role as the head of Censia, Joanna Riley is an angel investor for early-stage startups. She serves as an advisor, partner, and investor for forward-thinking companies such as Perksy, a consumer insights platform. In conjunction with her professional interests, Ms. Riley is a member of the board of directors of the San Francisco Bay chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization and serves on the advisory board of Singularity University.
